Brain
Hello!Completely new to this trials bike lark, but used to freestyle BMX in my youth (to a pretty crap level!), and my current passion is racing motorbikes. Piccie below...I haven't got a bike yet, but the plan is to quit the gym (which I don't use!) and use the money saved to get a trials bike and pop the odd pathetic wheelie and rolling stoppie in the race paddock. It should keep me flexible and fit enough to clamber about a motorbike at race speed, and be a lot of fun...Any pointers on a good beginners bike for tricks and horsing around, greatly received.Cheers,Brian
Brain
found the wiki - top stuff: I think I'll look for a 20" mod...
Ali C
noooo, go 26", if you are doing it for a laugh and training, the bigger bike will benefit you more back on the motorbike.Whats your budget? At the bottom end there is the Onza Spyrogyra which are actually pretty sweet, they are around £300. At around £800 there is the Atoms Premier, for around £1000 you can get the Yaabaa 1299 and upwards your getting into super light comp bikes. Brain
Ta - budget is about £300 new, but would prefer a used bike with a better spec for less money - then I have more money to feed my bike racing habit!I'm keeping an eye out on e-bay and here.At the 26" size, I also saw the MAD Phase 1.2 new, which I can probably get locally, and it looks nice, but I don't know enough to judge if the spec is good enough or not... j-maul
I'm in the same boat as you mate, i do trackdays and wanted to do a bit trials as fun ( i also do alot of MTB riding ) when money is tight for racing. I'v just got a onza bird 20" trials bike today and i can not stress enough how physical and hard it is. I'v been practising for about three hours and i still cant hop on the back wheel. I went for a 20" because there a bit easier to handle and throw about ( not that easy thow ), i also bought new from tartybikes because you dont know what state a used bike will be in, they get some abuse. Anyway nice pic and good luck with your bike choice. How did you upload that pic of your bike on here by the way i wanted to do the same? Brain
hello j-maul... great minds and all that!In terms of images, first put your picture on photobucket.com, or some other place you can host your image, then in your post, click this button ... it will ask you the location of your picture, which will be called "direct link" on photobucket... then jobs a good un.I'll look a bit daft on a 20 incher - but I reckon like you it will be easier to lob about... 'tis funny, I was speaking to tartybikes today, and they recommended first a 24" (for a over a grand!), then the 20" for having fun on.Decisions, decisions...Which tracks do you get to? If you are into trackdays alot, have a look at http://www.trackdayriders.co.uk/tdr/forum/default.asp. There are always a bunch of us at many trackdays, and a fair few have started racing this year.Cheers,Brian

I dont get to many down south like as i live in sunderland and the travel after a trackday is terrible ( i do all my trackdays alone as none of my mates are into them ) Donnie is about my max for a days travel, but i'd love to do Brands. I was at the world supers two years ago there and it looked great.
Brain
Most of the folks on that forum are midlands, north and even scotland: I don't tend to go to Brands, its too expensive, and I would rather travel 4 hours to an amazing circuit like Cadwell, or even 5 hours to the new Anglesey. If I want a quick fix, I tend to go to Snett which is only 2 hours away... there are some scary fast corners at Snett! great fun...
Daveee
Ebay is the best idea. just type in Onza on ebayEbay is the worst idea, you see second hand Onza's going more then retail..
Brain
I think I'm okay with e-bay - I've checked the retail prices, and indeed some of the cheaper prices at shops like http://www.ashcycles.com/power/ - and I wouldn't bid above half retail price.
