Trials Maniac
Ok, i've noticed that lately there has been many posts along the lines of; "what tyre should i get". So I've decided to make a post with all the information you need to know about the top four tyres...oh and sorry if the pictures aren't the right tyre Maxxis creepy crawler;Front;- Designed specifically for trials use by World Champion Dani Comas.- 2.0” (51mm) wide and made to fit 20” diameter front rims.- Soft 42a rubber compound provides un-paralleled grip in all manner of situations.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern. - 688gRear;- Designed specifically for trials use by World Champion Dani Comas.- 2.5” (63.5mm) wide and made to fit 19” diameter rear rims.- Soft 42a rubber compound provides un-paralleled grip in all manner of situations.- 25 TPI casing offers a ‘damped’ feel to the tyre and excellent puncture resistance.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern. - 1042g. Price; £31 pair form tarty bikesRear maxxis creppy crawler;Try all sticky:Front;- Trials-specific 'Stiky' compound tyre.- Relatively thin sidewalls keep the weight low.- As used by top World riders Benito Ros and Marco Hosel.- 2.0" profile offers high levels of grip, especially when run at low pressures.- Triangular tread pattern is different to most tyres, ensuring good grip and mud shedding properties. - Weight: 561g Rear;- Trials-specific 'Stiky' compound tyre.- Extra thick sidewalls offer high levels of pinch flat resistance, ideal for street riders looking for maximum grip!- As used by top World riders Benito Ros and Marco Hosel.- 2.5" rear profile offers high levels of grip, especially when run at low pressures.- Triangular tread pattern is different to most tyres, ensuring good grip and mud shedding properties. - Weight: 1113g Price; £50 pair from tarty bikesTry all front (i think);Monty Eagle Claw;Front;- BikeTrials specific front 20" tyre from the original BikeTrials brand Monty.- Designed specifically for trials use by World Champion Monty Team Riders Dani Comas and Cesar Canas, amongst others!- 2.0” (51mm) wide and made to fit 20” diameter front rims.- Soft rubber compound has slow rebound properties, which provide un-paralleled grip in all manner of situations.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern... but with a twist! The Monty tyres have slightly smaller tread blocks which give better mud shedding properties.- Approx 700g. Rear;- BikeTrials specific rear 19" tyre from the original BikeTrials brand Monty.- Designed specifically for trials use by World Champion Monty Team Riders Dani Comas and Cesar Canas, amongst others!- 2.6” (66mm) wide and made to fit 19” diameter rear rims.- 'Drilled' sidewalls to reduce weight,a very clever concept!- Soft rubber compound has slow rebound properties, which provide un-paralleled grip in all manner of situations.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern... but with a twist! The Monty tyres have slightly smaller tread blocks which give better mud shedding properties.- Approx 1100g. Price; £43 pair from tarty bikesMonty eagle claw;Echo;Front;- New Front Mod tyre from Echo, based around their popular first model!- Loved by many street riders for their low rolling resistance and bounce.- Hard compound lasts ages.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern.- Weight 735g Rear;- New Rear Mod tyre from Echo, based around their popular first model!- Loved by many street riders for their stiff sidewalls and low rolling resistance.- Hard compound lasts ages.- Proven and trusted traditional style ‘block’ tread pattern.- Weight 1143g Price; £35 pair from tarty bikesEcho tyre; The try all tyres look alot nicer but for the extra money i don't think its worth it compared to the maxxis creepy crawlers. The monty eagle claws seem quite a popular tyre aswell, and i hav'nt really heard much about the echo tyres but from personal opinion i wouldn't say they are the greatest of tyres. I'd definately say the maxxis creepy crawlers. Please leave any comments about what tyres you think are best and what ones you use. ThanksAdam Edited November 2, 2006 by Trials Maniac
dwarrick
looks good man but in a comparison chart like you have there should be some cons on the tires (yes in canada thats how we spell it).ive had the maxxis and echo.for the echo i found they didnt grip as well as the maxxis and were a little to stiff. i havent ridden the maxxis enough to give a good opionon yet thou. Dan6061
Nice helpful topic..for Mod riders. Fair enough though...I'm on my 3rd rear Maxxis CC now. Yes they pinch easily, especially with standard Halfords tubes, but they grip really well, and last a good while. My rear one's pretty much bald now, and still grips. JT!
its for the best really, ive been trying to forget about them since i used them I just buy creepy crawlers becuase they are so amazingly cheap. I don't care how good tryalls are, they're nearly twice as much.

Guest
Why are people saying this is a good topic? I could f**king go over to tartybikes and find exactley the same information. We hardly need told Creepy Crawlers are designed for trials the photo you've shown for the echo trye is a Stock tyre, you'd have been better taking the image directly from TB like you did with the text.bored or something? matt rushton
But how does that help people decide what tyres to get. It tells people about the tyre but not which is best. Just what they could of found if they went on tarty or any other bike shop that sells these tyres.Matt Rushton Edited November 2, 2006 by matt rushton
Trials Maniac
Yes, the info about these tyres can be found on tarty bikes but i have made a topic of it so people can put there own opinions about the tyres i have mentioned or any other tyres they like.. Sam Oliver
IMO i would go for the Eagle claws, sticky softer compound but wear really wellwith like motorbike trials tread so excellent in the mud! Have a looky here: CleanbikesCheaper too!

N.Wood
Could anybody please tell me why the try-all tyres are more expensive if they are not as good as the creepy crawlers??Because Koxx/Try-All like to make as much profit as possible. Just 'cos one thing is expensive, doesn't neccesaily make it the best.
T-Lite Man
My view is Try-all tyres are the best, so good grip, and after seeing Kieran hold onto anything at all with them.. I certainly think that Try-all tyres are the best and they sound pretty nice when rolling along the floor.
