_Owen.
hi all, i run a maxxis max daddy on the rear (because i have a crappy onza t-vee with a 20" rear wheel ) and i run around 40-50psi, and have never had a pinch flat or any rear tyre problems, and there is bairly and dents in my rim. so why run such low pressures? i here of people having 20psi n stuff n they complain about rim dents and pinch flats. do you run much lower pressures so that you have more stability on your back wheel because mine is like a rock on the rear and quite hard to get ballance. thanks owen
yoyoyo
Means the tyre can fold around the edge of a wall or anything like that. So you get better grip.
Mark W
Do you ride natural at all? If not, that'd probably be why. Mad hard tyre pressures on natural decrease your grip level, and make it feel pretty weird. Equally, you can apparently get a bit of rebound from your tyres if they're softer, meaning you can get a bit more oomph out of your preloading for sidehops, wheelswaps, etc. If you run that sorta pressure though, Olly C will love you. _Owen.
thanks for the quick replys, but if i do lower my pressures i think i will always get pinch flats because i am always landing on the edge of ledges and stuff. i didnt think about the preloading theory, i may try lower tyre pressures for a day just to test the theory. i could do with more grip and more spring but i could do without forever fixing b*sterd pinch flats. help !!!!!!!!!! yoyoyo
You don't need it low, i keep mine at a high psi normally. And if you get worried about rimming, there's something with summet like polyester that people use.
BrAd-Tpro
I have mine about 20 - 25 psi , its perfect and i do rimage alot (really:P) and touch wood i have never had a pinch flat even though i expect it. But when i do run higher Psi i find its harder to balance.. But at the end of the day its what you feel is right, my friend runs about 40 psi and i personally thinks its to hard..Brad
Concussion
do you run much lower pressures so that you have more stability on your back wheel because mine is like a rock on the rear and quite hard to get ballance. thanks owen Exactly.... balance! Well that's why I run 20ish anyways. Try it, it's so much easier... 40/50 psi is mad imo.
Mark W
Max Daddy tyres have pretty soft/weak sidewalls though, so you'll need to run them harder than you'd run a "proper" trials tyre otherwise it'll be terrible.
ben
i find witha lower pressure you do get so much more spring and it just takes the sting out of things a bit. if im riding a skate park though i tend to put more in as spins and stuff are a bit scary when ur tyres like rolling out on you.ben
max-t
when you have your tires down low it folds round stuff easier.theres more surface area coming to contact with the floor because the extra fold.and i suppise it gives you a little bounce as well.and of course a softer ride..but softer tires are harder to balance on during trackstands and turning because the tyre just sticks to the floor .i have mine both front and rear at 28psi but sum times for a laugh ill put them at 20 or 15 just to see how it feels.i dont get how people can ride with 20 psi though max..... poopipe
low pressure is good, its sticky, bouncy and makes it easier to balance - I run about 12-15psi in my back tyre cos its the only way i can trackstand for more than a couple of secondsits not the low pressure that causes pinchflats - fill the tyre with talc/chalk etc. and it won't pinch
Chris Elson
Hiisnt low pressure better for bouncing, i like to run my tyre at a high pressure because im a hard rider and i always end up denting the rim. orangeairo87
ok so maybee im not really a trials rider as i dont ahve a bike yet but im a downhiller and i run my tyres at like 20psi most of the time at my local track which is quite gnarly and not exactly slow as you can see(check the web address below).http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/1010825/dispite this i havent had a puncture since god knows when all im running is a set of maxxis high rollers on mavic 729s with nokian DH tubes maybe a lil on the weighty side but it worksmy advice is get sum phat tubes and let your pressures down you'll be gripping like a beast

_Owen.
wow. last night i was messing about with my pressures for about an hour. i didnt realise how much difference a couple of psi makes. i no run about 25-30psi and it feels just right for my bikes and my weight (both are alot!) lol. thanks for all the tips, i can now ballance much much better on my back wheel
Whizza
I run a new Echo tyre at about 15/16psi on the back. Dont have a problem with punctures. My monty tyre on the front is around 10psi. Feels nicer in my opinion.
