Boswell
Do you feel that a set of soft pads on a smooth rim can ever be as good as a set of hard pads on a ground rim? Please give me your views.

Grant H
i say different, alot of pros are now using smooth.who?natural riders won't use smooth because the brakes might get wet, wet smooth rims = no brakesi can see some street riders using smooth, but not many. Tim.Even magura blacks are good with tar, so you can't say those pads are good on a smooth rim. ANY pad will be with tar.Thats why people have grinds, tar and water don't mix well and you'll soon find your brake stops working entirely. Up'n'away
Thats why people have grinds, tar and water don't mix well and you'll soon find your brake stops working entirely.Yep, tar is the worst thing when wet, almost now braking at all..Recently did a medium grind, and run the Coust Cnc Pads and i must say, them with a grind were better than any Koxx on a grind.. I've used Koxx browns with a bit of Monty brake on a smooth rim and that works well!!
