Im not sure if theres a specific way to do it but, i ride right foot forward and prefer to hop to the right but i can hop to the left better  .weird hey :S . just do it the way it feels best i suppose

tom

Yet i ride left foot forward and sidehop to the right  I think it is just what you prefer and find easiest. There isn't a certain way you are meant to do it, i think.

Sorry.

Childish behaviour aside.

To be honest go whatever way.

Going the opostie way to your foot has it;s advantages.

e.g you can get closer, and tucking feels allot more naturall.

when i go to my left(im left footed)i tuck like a retard and it hurts, but maybe thats cause im fat....

try going to your left itll be better in the long run.

Sorry mate but i just couldn't resist sigging that,-and editing it a bit :- Anyway on a more serious note, I'm a beginner to sidehopping and as a right footer, I find it easier to practice side-hopping to the right, mainly because I can balance better before taking off. (Y)

hi. i am right footed but i side hop to the left and i find it much easyer to side hop that way...... but i used to be in a habit of going to the right. but i have founed that with side hopping the oppersite way to your foot you only need to go up, but with going the same was as your foot you have to go up and turn(if you get what i mean. juat keep practicing that is the only way you will get better.

Hi

You are supposed to side hop to the left if your right foot forward and to the right if your left foot forward. This is so you can drop back onto the crank if you need to. (bails). This has caused me quite a few problems eg;learning to side hop really high then realizing that it is the wrong way. >_<

Anyway I'm trying to conquer this and i am getting better but this will save me a lot of injury time when i don't make side hops and have nothing to drop back to.

Thanks Rick

Well i always thought that if you sidehop up a wall then you go the oposite side that your chocolate foot (strong foot).

Right footed = go left

Left footed = go right

Thats why i have been learning sidehops to my left, & I did find out sunday that it means you may catch and bend your disc if your right footed and get it wrong.

Okay i think people should try to both sides whatever footed they are. Especially if you ride comps or just want to be a better all-round rider. I'm left footed and hop better to the left. So that's NOT the way it's apparently meant to be, but WHO has the say so? Just ride what feels comfortable and try the other side to improve your overall ability.
