Krisboats
Make yourself a high jump pole and start clearing it. You'll notice you get to a point where you HAVE to tuck and you do it naturally. Obviously you aren't faking it because you can't tuck after landing I can't sidehop on walls to save my life, but i can happily tuck a 42-43" sidehop over my plastic poles on my lawn. JoNnY__Mc
aaaaaa i see will have to give it a go.....but is thear any tips other than that like body position/pre load/stuff like thatthanks krisboats good infoHey mate, you shouldn't really copy anyones technique because everyones built/shaped differently!Heres my advice for sidehops1) Start straight, starting at an angle with your front wheel tilted towards the wall encourages you to go to front! setting off straight will mean you use your legs to bring the bike up into the right position on the wall and will ensure you land straight and two wheels!2) Start abit further away from the wall, this means you'll bring your legs up and in towards the wall to get the bike onto the wall straight 3) You can practice setting off further and further away from the wall, this way you get into the habbit of using your knees/legs and stretching them naturally towards the landing.4) I always say, if your landing front wheel first your not going as high as you could be!!!Theyr just some tips, its abit late and im shattered, but I really hope they help! Krisboats
Most of it will come naturally over the high jump pole. You learn to bend and flex in order to get over it successfully and in order to clear it you learn how to bend your knees and adjust your legs.Preload and what not is purely personal style, you'll soon find after a few go's you'll find a way thats easiest for yourself to do it. PaRtZ
I can't sidehop on walls to save my life, but i can happily tuck a 42-43" sidehop over my plastic poles on my lawn.I really cant understand that though The only difference is you hold you body position at the top of the sidehop for longer (as you land on the wall) and don't brace for impact I go to front wheel to my left, but two to my right lol. And i don't tuck yet lol
Dave Anscombe
jonny mc..........you sir hit the nail on the head. i do tend to be at the angle when i start the sidehop the front wheel being closer to the wall and i gues thats why im going to front.... i found your post verry helpfull indeed top man...p.s.video was beast tried the pole job idea from you chrisboats. hehehe i like it. feels a little strange but it worksthank you .dave! With the poles theres no chance of bike damage at all, where as on the walls i'll soon mash my rear mech to pieces so i just don't do them. Now i've built my chain tensioner though it just doesn't matter, nothing to break now
scott_ftw
first yu stop panzying about on yur back wheeland then yu hop up once to backthen go all out, if yur putting enough power into it son,the tuck just comes naturally thinking about it just makes things complicated true story x
