How Do You Get Your Side Hops Higher?

just see lots of side vids and get the technique. To improve your ups you just have to spend hours beside the wall. Repeat lots of ups in a wall you can up easy and you'll get the confidence you need to try on a bit higher. good luck! :)

Practice is the obvious one which ll do the most good

side hops are crap anyway though, gaps are way more fun

I can gap pretty easy but when it comes to side hops this is when i get frustrated!

might sound abit silly but i tied sum string in my back garden and tried sidehopping over it

very time i could do it i moved it a little higher, and the good thing is you don't hurt yourself if you catch it.

that improved my sidehops (Y)

all you need to do is practise practise and practise

I don't think i piece of rope gets on with me i did that and it wouldn't let me go so i whacked my face on the ground and smashed my helmet up!

i just used this sh*ty string so when i touched it, it just snapped

I've found different geo's on different bikes have different techniques. EG on my zona I would hardy drop the front end and still power up, whereas now on my hydroxx I find myself dawdling with the front end dropped quite a bit.

It is practise at the end of the day. as is the generic answer to everything.

Practise, watch better riders than you, and watch videos.

But I think, most importantly, don't get bogged down by it if you're struggling. Take some time to work on some other moves and come back to it. Side hops are obviously a really useful thing to be good at but don't neglect everything else. Just keeping on at the same thing can take its toll on your motivation as well...
