Ok, i was just wandering if antifreeze has any negative effects on HS33s, mainly the seals?

A lot of people argue that water is fine, a lot argue it has problems, I just thought if it might be more down to the antifreeze?

First poll too, hope I've done it right.

Thanks,

Alun

I'm guessing this is going to go the same way as the other topic, but I'll put my 2p in first - I've used water in the same Magura for over 2 years now, and it's had no ill effects. It froze on me 3 times last winter, but all that happened was as the water expanded as it froze, it pushed my pads out a little.

Since November, I've used anti-freeze in my Magura. That means it's had over 6 months to piss itself, but it's chosen not to. This experience is similar to many other users of water and antifreeze.

That's me done...

...for now :shifty:

If you do choose to use anti-freeze, then be very careful with the stuff, ethanol-glycol is a poison, and it takes very little injested to cause all sorts of very nasty and irrecoverable damage and/or death.

Seriously, when dealing with the stuff, do not take any chances of injesting it (priming syphons by mouth etc). Try and avoid direct skin contact with it too.
