Tyre Psi

Recommended Posts

It all depends on what weight you are are, what weight your bike is, which tyres you run, etc....

Just pump your tyre up to the max, and take a little out at a time. Then see which point your prefured - like which gripped the best, was the bouncy-est, which made riding slightly easier.

You know what I mean realy ;)

Yeah like cai said it all depends on what you like.

I find that lower pressure is better for natty whereas higher pressure is better for street and TGS.

If you are a beginner and just starting to learn to balance and hop on the rear then a lower tire pressue is probably better because it gives you a bigger "footprint" on the ground.

When you start to get into ups and gaps then go higher psi so u dont destroy your rims.

I personally ride my tires high enough that they dont hit the rims when i drop and gap but low enough that it moulds to the edge i just tried to up. As you get smoother then you can run your tires at lower pressure for more feel.

Just experiment for a while and youll find something you like.

Cheers and hope this helps,

Ian

i use a fairly low pressure on the rear for extra grip, but its just hard enough to prevent my 16 stone body slamming the rim into the ground and lips. on the front i used a much higher pressure, not sure why, i just tried it once and loved it, its easier to just pump the tires up too hard, and then let more out when your riding, saves taking a pump with you.

Hey,

I weigh about 9 stone and i have around 14 psi in my front and around 17 in my rear.

Some people prefer high pressures but i find low psi gives you lots of grip and also you can use the bounce to do higher ups.

Just dont plan on getting anywhere quickly with low pressure because it slows you down very easily.

Cheers,

Rob.
